IGM Switch was tested throughly tested before it ever left my computer.
Thus, IGM Switch should work just fine on your computer as well. However,
this does not guarantee that IGM Switch will work for you. IGM Switch is
provided as is. USE AT YOUR OWN RISK. If you have any reason to believe
that IGM Switch will damage any of your data, either do not use IGM Switch,
or make a complete backup of your data before trying IGM Switch for the
first time.
WHAT IS IGM SWITCH?
-------------------
There are hundred's if IGM's available for Legend of The Red Dragon.
However, it usually not a good idea to add more than 5 or 6 to your LORD
game because the game becomes to easy, and users are online only playing
LORD, instead of using your file areas or message areas. Now, IGM Switch
lets you install up to 100 IGM's on your BBS for your LORD game. Each day, IGM Switch will generate a unique list of 5 IGM's for use in your LORD game.
With IGM Switch, you can now add a unique twist to your LORD game.
HOW DOES IGM SWITCH WORK?
-------------------------
IGM Switch works by reading information from a configuration file (covered
later) and generating a random list of 5 IGM's each day in LORD's
3RDPARTY.DAT file. By running IGM Switch with your daily maintance, you
can now have a unique set of 5 IGM's for your LORD game each day. If you
are even more daring, you can place IGM Switch in your LORD.BAT file (or
whatever file you use to run LORD on your BBS) and have a unique set of
IGM's each time a user enters LORD.
THE CONFIGURATION FILE
----------------------
IGM Switch uses a configuration file called IGMSWIT.CFG. IGM Switch does
not accept command line options, so the configuration file must be named
IGMSWIT.CFG.
The first line of this file contains the path and filename that IGM Switch
will write it's data to. This line would look something like this:
C:\BBS\DOORS\LORD\3RDPARTY.DAT
(note: the filename will always be 3rdparty.dat, unless Seth changes LORD
in the future).
The remaining lines in the configuration file will consist of the data need
to run the IGM's. The first line will be the command line options needed to
run the IGM. The second line will be the name of the IGM (including any
LORD color codes). These lines would look something like this:
C:\BBS\DOORS\LORD\IGMPATH\IGMNAME.EXE /N *
'3The newest '7LORD '4IGM
Up to 100 of these two line entires may be included in the file IGMSWIT.CFG.
TIP: The easiest way to initially create this file is to edit your current
3rdparty.dat file and insert the path and filename at the top of the file, then save that file as IGMSWIT.CFG. In the future however, you will need to
add the options for new IGM's to the configuration file manually (most IGM's
document how to manually setup the game).
Please see the file SAMPLE.CFG included with this zip file.
SETUP
-----
IGM Switch needs only two files to work properly:
IGMSWIT.COM
IGMSWIT.CFG
Place this to files in your BBS directory. Then, edit your daily maintance
batch file and include the line "igmswit.com" somewhere in that batch file.
